In a city that sits at the midpoint of a lake with over 100 trillion gallons of water, it is surprising to many that the lake was not the origin of this city’s water supply. It wasn’t until the mid 1850’s that water from the lake became the main supply source; before that, water came from spring wells and was not filtered, leading to many water borne diseases such as cholera and dysentery.

The S.T.E.P. Program celebrated the graduation of its 21st class this month. S.T.E.P is an educational outreach program designed to peak students' interests in career fields involving mathematics, science, engineering and other technical related fields. For seven months, students completed educational tours, journal assignments and homework assignments.

The 2015 Cleveland EarthFest was held Sunday, April 19th at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds. This year #EarthFestCLE2015 celebrated the Year of Clean Water. Despite the sun coming and going, families enjoyed entertainment with eco-activities, biodiesel powered amusement park rides, music, urban farm animals, and healthy food from local foods trucks.

The Student Technical Enrichment Program (STEP) is an education outreach program whose objective is to; provide educational experiences that heighten the interest of students in science, technology, engineering, and math beyond what the students learn in the classroom. STEP provides educational tours, develops a linkage between students, educational institutions, and businesses within their community, and establishes a foundation where students can envision themselves in these fields of study.

As yards begin to thaw and the flowers begin to bloom, you are probably ready to welcome spring. Thanks to a concerned customer, we were recently notified of a possible scam targeting Cleveland Water customers. The scam involves someone calling our customers claiming they are from the “Cleveland Water Department” and trying to collect money for a delinquent bill. The caller threatens to have the water turned off if the bill is not paid immediately.

Cleveland Water offers a variety of discount programs to help our customers save money on their water bills and find assistance to make necessary plumbing repairs. To enroll in the cost saving programs, customers must submit an annual application, which can be downloaded from our website. Renewal applications are automatically mailed to customers in March of each year.
