Now that summer seems to have actually made it to Northeast Ohio, you’re probably getting your pool ready as quickly as possible in order to stay cool. In case you didn’t know, Cleveland Water allows customers to fill pools from a hydrant in order to help save money.

Customer Servie Center to remain open
On Friday, May 20, the customer service parking area located outside of 1201 Lakeside Avenue will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm due to the Police Memorial Parade. The Cleveland Public Utilities’ Customer Service Center will remain open to those wishing to pay Cleveland Water, Cleveland Public Power (CPP) and Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) bills and pedestrian traffic will not be affected. For customer convenience, bills may also be paid and services rendered via the following:

As we went around the dinner table discussing our upcoming week, I shared with my family that I would be helping to inform our customers about infrastructure in honor of Infrastructure Week May 16–23, 2016. My daughter asked, “What is infrastructure?”
I initially tried to explain it using the on-line dictionary definition, that infrastructure is the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, to which my daughter followed up with, “Oh, you mean like roads, bridges and airports?”

Our Crown Water Treatment Plant is located in Westlake, Ohio -- a western suburb of Cleveland -- making it the only Cleveland water treatment plant not located in the city of Cleveland. The plant was first put into service in 1958 and pumps an average of 41.5 million gallons of water a day to the residents and businesses of Cleveland’s Westside, including its Western and Southwestern suburbs.

We want to take this opportunity to reassure you that your Cleveland Water is safe to drink, as always, straight from the tap.
Recent news has brought to light that sediment years-ago dredged from the Cuyahoga River, and disposed of in an area of Lake Erie referred to as CLA-1, has migrated from its original location. The sediment contains harmful pollutants and has moved within five miles of the shoreline closer to our Nottingham Water Treatment Plant intake but there’s no need for Cleveland Water customers to worry about the quality of their drinking water.

It’s getting close to that time of the year again- the time when we pay tribute to safe, quality drinking water and give thanks to the source that makes it all possible, our beautiful Lake Erie! National Drinking Water Week is May 1-7, 2016, and this year we’ll also take a minute to sing ourselves a Happy Birthday tune for turning the big 160.

On Saturday, April 9th, Cleveland Water crews will begin a scheduled repair project in the City of Parma affecting a number of customers who live on, or near, Sassafras Drive. Affected customers were notified directly at their homes earlier this week.
