Friday, May 11: Meet Team Morgan
We'll be sharing interviews with some of the dedicated employees who work at the Morgan Water Treatment Plant. Get to know the people who make sure you have safe, quality water delivered when and where you need it.
Saturday, May 12: Open House
Drinking Water Week culminates in our annual Open House! Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at our Garrett A. Morgan Water Treatment Plant located at 1245 West 45th St. where the Detroit Shoreway and Ohio City neighborhoods meet.
Take advantage of the plant’s location along the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway and bike to the Open House using the new Lakefront West multipurpose trail! You can take in the incredible views of the plant, Lake Erie and downtown Cleveland from the overlook along the trail.
If you’re driving, volunteers will direct you where to park as you arrive. Then, make your way to the registration tent to sign up for a free, guided tour of the treatment plant. Our expert staff will walk you through the entire water treatment process, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at exactly what it takes to get your water from lake to tap 24/7/365.
Your tour will end at the treatment plant pump station. Here is where you’ll be able to learn the fascinating history behind the plant’s namesake - African American inventor and entrepreneur Garrett A. Morgan.
After your tour, check out our Activities Tent. We’ll have face painting, our Cleveland Water trivia game, and demonstrations of our pipe repair equipment. Other local organizations will be on hand with family-friendly games, educational exhibits, and hands-on displays. You can also enjoy a bite to eat and refreshments from local food trucks and the Cleveland Water Buggy. Exhibitors include:
Cleveland EMS | Cleveland Dept. of Waste Collection | Cleveland Public Power |
Cleveland Health Mobile | Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority | Cleveland Fire Dept. Smokehouse |
Classic Kettle Corn | CPD 2nd District Community Service Unit | Mayor’s Office of Sustainability |
B&M Bar-B-Que | Cleveland Metroparks Nature Tracks | Surge Tank Mural Designs |
