Clear Reads upgrades water meters with state-of-the-art equipment that allows Cleveland Water to obtain meter readings without coming to your property which is more efficient and better for the environment.
What is Clear Reads?
Clear Reads is Cleveland Water’s project to install automated meter reading (AMR) technology across the entire service area. The project will replace or modify water meters with state-of-the-art equipment that will allow Cleveland Water to obtain meter readings without coming to your home or business. AMR technology allows us to improve customer service while being cost-effective.
How Does It Work?
AMR replaces the remote register, located on the outside of your home/business or in a small vault at the edge of your property, with a battery-powered “endpoint.” This endpoint reads the water meter at your home or business several times per day, and sends a low-powered radio signal to electronic collectors throughout Cleveland Water’s service area. These collectors provide us with all of the information we need to send our customers more accurate bills, eliminating the need for meters to be read manually.
How Much Does It Cost?
There is NO COST to our customers for this meter upgrade.
Am I Required to Have It Installed?
Yes, participation in the Clear Reads project is mandatory. Meters for all our customers – residential and business – must be replaced.
