Traffic Alert: East 55th Street to be Closed for Emergency Water Main Repairs

UPDATE 9/30/18: Cleveland Water crews have completed repairs on the 30-inch transmission main. East 55th Street between Quincy and Scovill Avenues is anticipated to reopen to two-way traffic this evening with one lane in each direction. Street restoration work still needs to be completed. Once AT&T completes repairs to their ducts, Cleveland Water will complete the street restoration.

UPDATE 9/29/18: Repair crews were able to expose a section of the main and found two leaks at the main joint. Crews repaired one of the leaks. In order to repair the second leak, additional excavation of the road is needed. Once this is done, crews will begin making repairs to the second leak.

9/28/18: Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 28, East 55th Street between Quincy and Scovill Avenue will be closed to allow Cleveland Water to make emergency repairs to a 30-inch transmission main.

Once the road closure is in place, repair crews will begin excavating the street in order to locate and repair the leak. Direct water service to the residents and businesses in the area will not be impacted while repairs are being made.

The street will be closed until further notice. Detour signs are posted. Below is a map of the detour routes.
