Cleveland STEP Students Learn How Water Gets Pumped from Lake Erie to Your Home

Students were granted a virtual access pass to learn about Cleveland Water, the 10th largest water system in the country. They viewed the Garrett Morgan Water Treatment Plant where they learned about Garrett Morgan’s contributions, the hours before a water tank empties and the quality of water during the Covid-19 pandemic.

They also learned about our water supply, the multi-barrier approach for water treatment and the distribution process that services 1.4 million people across five counties.  The students concluded this session with a behind-the scenes virtual tour of key chemical injection points, the pipe gallery and our 1.5 million gallon reservoir led by Cleveland Water Commissioner Margevicius and Assistant Plant Operator, Alexandra Griffin.
